Onyemaechi Maxwell Chinedu*

Abstract: The Proximate Analysis/Quality evaluation carried out was Moisture/Dry Matter Content Determination, Ash Content Determination, Ether Extract/Crude Fats Determination, Crude Fiber Determination, Nitrogen Free Extract/Carbohydrates and Crude Protein Content DeterminationT. he Modular Aeroponics yam had higher Crude Protein Content and Ether Extract Content than the commercial water yam but the commercial water yam had higher Nitrogen Free Extract content than the modular Aeroponics yam. The Modular Aeroponics yam had higher Ether Extract, Crude Protein and Dry Matter content than the commercial white yam but the Nitrogen Free Extract was higher in the commercial white yam than in the Modular Aeroponics yam.

Identification Of The Level Of Adoption Of Cassava Processing Technologies Among Rural Women In Shabu Lafia North Lga, Nasarawa State, Nigeria

Onyemaechi Maxwell Chinedu*

Abstract: The study examined the identification of the adoption of cassava processing technologies among rural women in Shabu, Lafia North development area of Nasarawa state. This project attempts to identify the level of adoption of cassava processing technologies by rural women through improved cassava processing technologies will attract large market as well as exploration of potential constraints. To achieve the research objectives rural women (processors) in the three (3) district of Shabu through administration of structured questionnaire which was randomly selected throughout the three (3) district to give ninety (90) respondents for the study. Primary data were used for this study. The primary data collected from the respondents were analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). All the objectives for the study were achieved using simple descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage while the null hypothesis was tested using logical regression model. The analysis identify that most of the cassava processor are illiterate and result of the study also revealed that level of adoption improved cassava processing technologies makes work easy. Furthermore age and extension visit were significant in the level of adoption identified at 1%. The major constraints identified include high cost of purchase (34.5%), lack of credit facility (41.1%), and maintenance (24.4%). Following recommendations, it is imperative for any policy aimed at improving cassava processing technologies as an income generating activity that can reduce poverty and unemployment among rural women should be formulated and adopted, it will enhance technology adoption. The study identify that promotion of improved cassava processing technologies will be time saving and meet market demands.

Abstract: The study examined the adoption of processing technologies of cassava and its effect on productivity output among rural women in Lafia North. This project attempts to examine the extent to which cassava processed by rural women through improved cassava processing technologies and its effects on productivity output which will attract large market as well as exploration of potential constraints. To achieve the research objectives rural women (processors) in the three (3) district of Lafia North, through administration of structured questionnaire which was randomly selected throughout the three (3) district to give ninety (90) respondents for the study. All the objectives for the study were achieved using simple descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage while the null hypothesis was tested using logical regression model. The analysis indicated that most of the cassava processor are illiterate and result of the study also revealed that adoption of improved cassava processing technologies makes work easy and increase productivity. Furthermore age and extension visit were significant to adoption at 1%.The major constraints identified include high cost of purchase (34.5%), lack of credit facility (41.1%), and maintenance (24.4%) . Following recommendation the adoption of improved cassava processing technologies will increase productivity and also time saving.

The Importance Of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) In Tackling Climate Change Issues

Onyemaechi Maxwell Chinedu*

Abstract: Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is a strategic approach that addresses the challenges posed by climate change. CSA aims to incorporate these concerns and highlight their significance through fostering resilience to climate change and variability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions for a more climate-smart world. It underpins sustainable intensification, adaptation, greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation, and resilience. CSA faces constraint including policy and institutions, funding and technical gaps as well as social conditions. Solving these will require cooperation among government, policy-makers, scientists, and others with an interest at stake. In the face of these challenges. It is imperative to combine technologies with traditional practices and to have a sound policy support for successful up-scaling of CSA universally.

The Importance of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Tackling Food Security and Climate Change Issues

Onyemaechi Maxwell Chinedu*

Abstract: Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is a strategic approach that addresses the intricate connection between agriculture and the challenges posed by climate change on global food and nutritional security. CSA aims to incorporate these concerns and highlight their significance through sustainable farming practices that help mitigate the effects of climate change. Its goals include increasing agricultural productivity, fostering resilience to climate change and variability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions for a more climate-smart world. It underpins sustainable intensification, adaptation, greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation, and resilience. CSA contributes to food security through larger productivity, increased resilience, improved farmer and supply networks, and access to healthy diets. Yet, CSA faces constraint including policy and institutions, funding and technical gaps as well as social conditions. Solving these will require cooperation among government, policy- makers, scientists, farmers and others with an interest at stake. In the face of these challenges, CSA provides an encouraging avenue for securing sustainable food. It is imperative to combine these technologies with traditional practices and to have a sound policy support for successful up-scaling of CSA universally.
